We are LOVING the cool down in the weather lately. Although we don't get the dramatic change that  other cities get, we truly appreciate it that the 90 degree weather is gone, hopefully! With all this change comes layers, cozy night by the fire, and pumpkin flavored everything! Personally I have been obsessing over the pumpkin granola from Trader Joe's, so yummy! Ok, ok back to the clothes. Today's shop update has some great layering pieces, including the fabulous  Laramie Range Coat and the Skykomish Blouse. Shop all the new arrivals here!

First and foremost, confession...I literally just put on my "inspiration tunes" playlist so I could write this blog post.

Ok, now that we're over that...

Lately I've been in a bit of a slump. Well, it's weird... I am having such a heightened level of inspiration lately, so much in fact that I can't focus on anything. I want to do this, and that, and then THIS...

It's been centered mostly around my new apartment. I've seriously moved THREE times this year. Only crazy people do that. All this moving though has had me feeling very unsettled lately. I just want to be settled already. I want to come home and not have a box that I have to unpack from my first move. I want the curtains up. I want a fruit bowl that's actually used. And don't even get me started on the artwork I have leaning against the wall just waiting to be hung up. (They're currently gathering a layer of dust...and not all too happy about it.)

I love how "settled in" this living room feels. Maybe it's because the books aren't perfectly staged. And the pillows are all smushed and not in that "karate chop" way which is actually a pet peeve of mine. I also really dig this grey couch. The color mostly. I'm shopping for a grey couch right now to replace my French settee which is featured here.

More than anything else, this living room inspired me the most. I have my own things I'd change, but the combination of minimal, streamlined mid-century inspired furniture, and mix of textiles makes me wish this were my living room. Or rather my "right now" living room, as I know in about 3 months time, I'll tire of my current settings and want to change everything again.

I've also been really into baskets lately! (Ahh I'm turning into my Mom!) Also succulents. Wait, I've always been into those. I'm a little confused as to why there's a butter knife on that succulent, but hey...not judging.

I normally wouldn't be into this room. It's a little too dark for my personal taste, but something about all the details resonated with my current state of interior design inspiration. For some reason this bedroom inspired me to buy a large Kevin Russ print for my bedroom.

What sort of rooms have been inspiring you lately?

Ooo...and all these images (plus literally hundreds of others) are from my Interior Design boards on Pinterest! I have a board for bedrooms, kitchens, dining rooms, and outdoor spaces!

I saw these vintage 1940s fashion illustrations floating about on Pinterest and I thought they were just catalog scans at first glance, but after clicking to the original source of these vintage fashion illustrations, I found out their true nature... these are sample fabric swatches for Fashion Frocks, a dress manufacturing company that had their home base in Ohio. There's a little bit of info about the building they occupied in the 1930s on wikipedia.

Not only are these vintage fashion drawings absolutely lovely, but the fact that these are ACTUAL fabric samples just makes me heart quicken a whole lot. I MUST have these!! The company was around since the 1920s and stopped producing clothing in the 1970s. Seriously, I MUST have these. I'm not really one to collect anything, but these are just an amazing piece of vintage fashion history!

These Fashion Frocks/Hardford Frocks sample pages are from Miss Amy on flickr.

Fashion Frocks was a company from Cincinnati, OH that employed housewives as salespeople to sell clothing to friends and neighbors "door-to-door" ... they would be armed with these wonderful sample sales cards for women to order from. It was a way of bypassing the retailers and selling directly to consumers, at better value-pricing. One of the company taglines is "It's fashion-wise to be thrifty." - from FASHION FROCKS flickr set

It's so nice to finally take a breath and just be mellow yellow for awhile. I suppose that's the inspiration behind this blog post...the apparent yellow peppering the Adored Vintage instagram feed lately and also the general mood I find I'm in.

What do the colors golden and yellow bring out for you or in you? I've never been a huge fan of yellow to be honest... but lately, it seems this pretty golden hue has been inspiring me a lot.

The past couple of months for AV have been incredibly hectic and crazy. AV is such a close part of my life, it nearly IS my life. It has been weeks of non-stop work and I am really happy to announce all the big things are done and now it's time to settle back into a daily groove.

So what have I been up to lately?

The biggest thing... the grand opening of my brick + mortar I share with my fella, ORN HANSEN. For awhile, we talked about someday opening up a men's and women's general store...and after 4 months of building out the shop, choosing brands, and all the other craziness that goes into opening up a brick + mortar store... we finally opened our doors on September 26th!

Following that, I popped up again at A Current Affair, the premiere vintage marketplace in downtown Los Angeles. As always, I got to meet loads of wonderful people and some of you gals that follow AV on Instagram! I always get so giddy when I get to meet you in real life!

This past weekend, one of my dear friends and I, took some much needed time off from our jobs and spent it exploring the streets of San Francisco, drinking loads of coffee, and singing loudly in the car with the windows rolled down.

So much more of course, but I really don't want to bore you with a laundry list of how busy I've been. I'm sure you can tell.

What's new in your life?

I don't carry too much vintage jewelry in the shop, but lately I've been spotting a lot of pretty little things during my vintage hunting trips. I have such a soft spot for art deco jewelry, especially the thin delicate sort such as the delicate silver and pink art deco necklace previewed below.

And isn't the bakelite cherry brooch the most darling thing you've ever seen?! It would be so cute pinned on to a peter pan collar blouse or dress!

Look for these soon in the vintage shop!
