So in love with the melancholic grit of these 1920s archive photos from the Sydney Police Archives. Many of the photos are featured in a book by Peter Doyle entitled City of Shadows: Sydney Police Photographs 1912-1948. (Early birthday gift, pretty please?)

Stunning photos, are they mug shots? They look a bit informal to be and wow that Mr WT O'Brian is a very handsome man. Thanks for sharing. ax

ReplyDeleteI think these are so neat.
ReplyDeleteHow do you find the same pics in the Sydney police archives? Name search doesn't work.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is - I've come across these pics before but they were identified as photos from US police archive with some bio info added to each pic.
I'm confused.
Love these! I want to do a shoot like this :) wish there was some more info about the people though.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely stunning photos! I love vintage suit. Thank god I found these post. Those suits are more elegant compared to present clothes.
ReplyDeleteI love the vintage look. I'm surprised that the woman in the first photo was so well dressed for a mug shot. The fact that she takes thought into how she looks and also her ashamed body posture tell me that she was someone who was remorseful for her wrongs, whatever they were. About the fourth photo down; i learned recently that the primitive cameras produced a photograph of piercing looking eyes if the eyes are light in color like blue.
