I've been wanting to change the layout of my vintage work studio for a few weeks now as the current layout just isn't conducive to the way I want the space to function.

So, on Saturday, with the help of my beau and my friend/assistant, we moved around the studio. There's still more that needs to be done... but I am the kind of gal that really loves before/after photos and tracking progress. So, here are some snaps of my vintage atelier when it's one hot mess.

I had to move all the racks out into the hallway of my studio. Luckily on Saturday I'm the only one that goes to work on my entire floor, so this wasn't a hindrance to anyone.

Moving my work table to the other side of the room and facing the windows. I'll be adding pinboards right along this wall for inspirations and what not.

A vintage mess... I have a lot of plants in the work studio (and plan on getting more) I definitely want a garden feel in this space.

And here are the strong fellas! We still need to install curtains to help protect my vintage clothes from the sun. And of course I haven't even started to organize and decorate (my favorite part!)

I am planning on putting a little sitting area right by the window. I've always imagined I'd have a pot of tea or coffee in the morning with croissants and fruit (I do have a mini fridge and a microwave here!)

So many plans for the future... I can't help but get really excited and want to skip ahead a few steps. But there's definitely a lot of small changes happening and there's been a lot of adjusting. It's been different and nice.

More photos soon!

So the new website design is actually close to being finished. There's my perfectionist side that wants to really get all the details DOWN, but I suppose a lot of people won't even notice those.

So, now I am just focusing mainly on getting all my vintage inventory photographed for the new of ADORED | VINTAGE website.

So the past couple of weeks my friend and I have tried different ways of photographing vintage, so I thought I would share side by side comparisons...

STUDIO LIGHTS vs NATURAL LIGHT

The vintage 1920s flapper dress on the left side was shot with two studio lights and a light overhead (so 3 total) during the evening. The 1920s flapper dress on the right side was shot with natural light (shot during the day time). Clearly I love natural light more as I feel it adds more dimension to the product. I know there is a way to position your lights to get the same effect, but natural light just has so much more feeling. So much more emotion. And vintage clothes are very emotional for me.

NATURAL LIGHT VARIATIONS

Both of these dresses were shot with Natural Light during the afternoon. The one on the left was shot pulled away from the wall and the one on the right was shot right against the wall. I prefer the one shot against the wall as it creates shadows along the right side of the dress which makes the dress "pop" more.

---

So for all of you vintage sellers out there, hope this post was helpful! I know not everyone has access to great natural light...but IF you do, by all means always choose it over Studio Lights. But then again, I'm being biased as I really prefer natural light photography over studio light photography to photograph my vintage clothes. If anyone has tips/advice or recommendations I would be happy to hear them!

the new site design is coming along nicely...and i wanted to start sharing some previews of the gorgeous vintage clothing that will be available in the shop soon.

first up is this most amazing bridal wedding set from the 1910s...probably early teens era. it is gauzy ecru tulle and silk with beautiful angel sleeves and waterfall overskirt. the lace veil is my favorite and is attached to a wax floral crown. the set also comes with an antique bride's bouquet with...*drum roll please*... tiny silver bells! i nearly died of glee when i discovered this small detail!

i would honestly get married in this antique wedding gown. i love that it doesn't look too costumey. well, maybe not to me at least. i would most definitely wear something like this to my own nuptials.

I just have to take this moment to really count my blessings...

The past few months have been some of the most trying and yet most rewarding months I've experienced thus far in my life...and I am so thankful for each day to have the opportunity to grow and learn.

With that said... I have been slowly putting in the hours of redesigning my site. If you follow me on Instagram (adoredvintage) you might have seen the little image I posted of my "design process".

I knew what work needed to be done but I kept avoiding it all weekend...I'm not exactly sure why, but long story short, last night I finally completed how the product info page should look.

It took me THREE HOURS to make these changes! I have recently been keeping track of my time and really watching how much WORK I'm actually getting done and lately I've been realizing that I invest A LOT of time in all of this and always brush off how much work I actually put into maintaining and building an online vintage clothing store.

I'm quite happy with the progress and just feel like everything is going smoothly for once. :)

Oh and if you're curious...here is the Instagram photo I was talking about...

what a better way to end the month of may than with a plethora of flowers, vintage floral prints, floral embellishments, flowers everywhere! i've finally received my brand new dress form which is a size 2. i have been on a hunt for a vintage dress form that was a size 2 but sadly my search was fruitless. so these hopefully will be the last time you see dresses too small on my vintage dress forms (they won't zip up!)

all of these lovely vintage clothes will be available in the ADORED | VINTAGE shop by the weekend!

The vintage shop will soon be getting a much needed vintage clothing shop update this weekend! The new vintage collection will be fresh in starting tomorrow! Lots of floral prints (since I adore florals) and colors centered around green, cream, and black. My personal goal for the shop by the end of May is to have 120 products in the shop! Think I can do it?!?

The adorevintage shop has been restocked with fresh new vintage dresses, vintage blouses, and new vintage accessories! Head on over! >> { Vintage Shop }.

In other news... I'm kind of getting back into the swing of things. Trying to take better care of myself. Made yet another doctor's appointment as whatever this physical thing I'm going through is not really getting better. The medication is just keeping everything at bay. Going to get another doctor's opinion. Thank goodness it's Wednesday. Spending some much needed girlie time with a bunch of girlfriends tonight... baking cookies, eating pizza, trying out the new Mint Julep mud mask I just got, playing dress up... keep on truckin!

This week's vintage shop updates are full of pretty florals and lots of pastels. I'm still working out what to do with the domain name adorevintage.com... unfortunately it's a rather sticky situation involving a very evil man. I'm not stressing about it, life moves on, shit happens, you deal with it.

So on a more positive and brighter note... all of these lovely vintage clothes and accessories will be available this evening!
