1.] Funny Face is my all time favorite Audrey Hepburn movie. It has nearly everything I love. Audrey. France. Fashion. Singing. Dancing. Fred Astaire. Photography. Cool beatnik bar where you can dance all kooky and NO ONE seems to notice and later on get featured in a snazzy Gap commercial!
2.] Steve McQueen. So in real life he was kind of a dirt bag. But in still pictures, especially any stills from "The Great Escape" ohh boy.
3.] Polka dots. I wear them at least once a week, without fail.
4.] Peonies and Ranunculus are my favorite flowers. But I just love flowers in general.
5.] Fairy Tales. I still read them. I'll go to the library once in awhile and borrow fairy tale books and sometimes little kids look at me funny.
6.] Clair De Lune. Probably my all time favorite song ever. I've liked it since I started listening to classical music when I was a wee thing and was looking for new songs to practice ballet at home. My Dad had one of those classical cd collections that could have only been purchased from an infomercial and so at the precocious age of 10 I was introduced to Claude Debussy.
7.] Color coding. And lining things up. Sorting stuff. I'm weird.
8.] Jellyfish. They're so cool.
9.] Lingerie and nightgowns from the 1920s are the epitome of pretty intimates in my opinion. Unfortunately most of my collection isn't all that wearable to bed since they're a bit fragile. I've torn two in my sleep already! (I must be having ninja dreams or something!)
10.] Grey, cream, white, and pale peach pink are my favorite colors. Blue is my least favorite.
Can I tell you a super-random story about the colour blue? My other half and I are doing IVF to get pregnant and need to use donor sperm. When choosing ou donor, we are supplied with a 26-page profile on the donor. One question (a very deep, insightful one) is favourite colour. Every single man answered blue. Without exception. I found it so odd... no green, no red... just blue. Talk about social conditioning. That said, my favourite is ... pink. :D
ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day. Your collage is beautiful. x
Thank you for sharing that Miss Tallulah (and the best of luck to you and your love in finding a donor!) How very interesting that every man put "blue" as their favorite color. Definitely social conditioning, even when I was younger boys were expected to like blue and girls to like pink. I do wonder if the men even really thought about that question or they just wrote blue because it's an automatic response for a male to like the color blue.
DeleteHappy Valentine's Day!

And I thought I was all alone in my feelings for blue...which can be summed up in a word...meh.
ReplyDeleteHappy day!
That's how I feel about blue too. I suppose it's because there are so very many shades of blue. I mean there's an entire spectrum of blues whereas grey, cream, pale peach pink (ok, that one is kind of specific) it's cut and dry what those colors are.
DeleteYou know, I DO like blue-grey. But then again, it's mostly because it's grey.
Happy Valentine's Day!
So, you and I must be best friends.
ReplyDeleteHere's why:
1. I collect 20s/30s lingerie and have also torn two 1920s nightgowns in my sleep.
2. My favorite colors are gray, white, cream and pale peach.
3. I love Debussy.
4. I live to color code things.
5. You said 'dirt bag' and for that I sort of love you.
Thankfully, I won't wear polka dots which saves us, essentially, from being the same person. Whew!
Love this post, I mean, obviously :)
Eeep we really must be! :) And we both love vintage, obviously.
DeleteOH! and peonies and ranunculus are my favorite flowers. For real. See? Weird!
ReplyDeleteI'm like the short Asian version of you or something.
DeleteWhat a lovely post! I think the lingerie from the 20s is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, it's so sad two pieces you had ripped in your sleep!
ReplyDeleteI like that you have ninja dreams! I love 20s lingerie, I have yet to wear my older pieces to sleep, too afraid that the ninja situation may repeat itself with me.
ReplyDeleteThis is the second blog I stumbled upon and read about Ranunculus being her favorite flower! Hm, it's famous because of its rose-like bloom. Peonies, on the other hand, are also known because of their deep lobes.
