Oh my goodness... I adore this vintage inspired dress so very, very much! It's a pale nude cream color with black and grey feathers cascading all around. I just adore the late 1930s turned 1970s silhouette with the blouson style top, floaty open sleeves, and the keyhole back. Oh, and little fun fact...this dress is from the company I work (aka my day job!), S U G A R L I P S.

Kind of a silly name, but I love the clothes we carry, well most of it anyway. It's actually really exciting as I get to work with the designers sometimes and give them design inspirations. This dress for instance was a bit inspired by this gorgeous photo I saw of a girl wearing a bohemian chiffon dress by Chloe. Tres Jolie!

These are some of the fanciest vintage hats I ever did see! Can you imagine wearing one of these millinery creations atop your head? Some of these antique hats are really rather fabulous, I do wonder where one wore such fancy hats?



This collection of vintage photographs from 1913-1915 of women in hats reminds me so much of the derby scene from Funny Face. Which of these antique hats would you wear?

I found this copy of a vintage Better Homes & Gardens Decorating book at an estate sale once upon a time and I was so thrilled to have found it!

The book is stocked full of practical decorating know hows and it is so well organized and put together. I mostly just love flipping through for all the photos though. So much mid century modern furniture to drool over! There's some serious ugly too... but let's just focus on the loveliness...

These vintage photographs from 1949 of life on campus at Smith College, a women's private liberal arts college in Northhampton, MA, remind me so much of the movie Mona Lisa Smile with Julia Roberts. Remember that movie?

I love how photographer Patrick Stackpole captured every day campus life of these women. And of course I enjoy looking at their clothes! Love those chambray and denim shirts, the little cardigans with brooches, and all those saddle shoes! I used to wear my fair share of vintage cardigans, but I sort of got over it. Well, for now anyway.








One thing I notice about this vintage photograph and their coats are the large size of the coats! Sometimes I forget that intentionally women just wore these big boxy coats in the early 50s. Sometimes I come across vintage coats and think "how are coats SO HUGE and dresses so small?!" It was just the style I guess!

I feel like I lived 3 different lives this weekend. Past, Present, and Future. Do you ever have those weekends that go by so slowly and yet you feel like you've done so many things?

Saturday was so hot in my work studio that I pretty much just lazed about bemoaning the heat while sipping at a gigantic serving of peach and blueberry iced tea (with fresh mashed up fruit...mmmmmm) I snapped some photos here and there of the studio and when I got home to look at the photos it made me realize I'm due to upgrade my camera. *le sigh*



Woooororroroororfgghhh. That's me just shaking of stuff. New week! It's rare I'm glad it's Monday. Monday, bloody Monday.

But this Monday is bringing a lot of things to the table and just dealing with things one at a time and feeling good, well more hopeful about it.

The weekend was really balanced and I need more weekends like that. Spent some solo time, made lunch for a girlfriend and I, went on a date with the fella, Church fellowship on Sunday...upgraded to an iphone 4GS which isn't a big deal to most people, but I'm not really a techie person (in fact I didn't even have a cellphone until I was 23-24, haha) so to me, was kinda a big deal.

How was your weekend?

This vintage collection is inspired by an escape to the English countryside. A pretty vintage floral dress for wandering in the old town square, an elegant vintage party dress for moonlit dinner, and sweetly printed vintage skirts for enjoying the countryside. And when the chill in the air gets a bit too much, you can warm up with this gorgeous vintage coat that features a snuggly faux fur collar.
