When I start pattern mixing that usually means I haven't done laundry in a few weeks. It's tough to get laundry done when you don't have your own washer and dryer! I purchased this vintage 1930s skirt from last year's Vintage Fashion Expo in Santa Monica. It actually has a really lovely "pleated bustle" in the back, it was love at first sight when I spotted this across the hall and immediately gravitated to the prancing giraffe print.

I've been tossing my hair in a simple 1940s inspired style lately. It's just super easy to do. Just a slight part to the left, twist, then pin up! 1940s inspired hairstyle in about 30 seconds! :)

So, last night was really wonderful. I was invited to a dinner party in Echo Park and met some really lovely people. The party was hosted by a gentleman that owns a non-profit that helps rehabilitate criminals, so among our dinner guests were felons who had been locked up for 15-20 years. Now you're probably wondering... how could that at all be wonderful?

Everyone at the party just had really colorful and diverse backgrounds and they were all genuinely nice people. I'm such a homebody about 90% of the time, so I'm really appreciative of a lovely night out. I also had the opportunity to find out the winner of Project Runway All Stars (met someone that works on the show) but declined the information indecisively. As one of the new ladies I met said "Aren't we so lucky to be here? It's Friday, we're eating delicious food, there are really cool awesome people here, isn't it great?"

Mm-hmmm. Very nice indeed. And tomorrow it's off to the flea market (7 AM!) then kayaking in the afternoon. If the weather is bad, then we're going to Disneyland. As a treat to myself and mon chou, I purchased us Disneyland Annual Passes. Yippie!!!

  1. That is a realy lovely outfit.

I need pics of this easy '40s hair. I am struck with terror at the idea of doing a '40s hairdo.

  12. I looove novelty prints. super cute outfit! Those platforms are great. A few years ago I went to an art show of ex-felons. At first I was nervous, but ended up being happy that I went, felt like the experience opened my mind a little more.

    1. An Art show with ex felons! That's so interesting! Did you converse with any of them? I spoke with some of the guys, but didn't actually ask them why they got locked up and what they did, didn't feel like it would be appropriate small talk over dinner. LOL.

  13. i love mixing patterns, you look lovely! God gives people new starts no matter what you've done although their is consequences for your choices, it's great that your friend has a heart to help those felon's. I'm sure you learned allot!
