I love going to Griffith Park in Los Angeles and love how close it is to where I live. Sometimes when the going gets tough I have to remember to pull myself away and go back to Nature. And walking among the wildflowers or even just laying in the grass watching the grey clouds move (when it's a very cloudy day you have to concentrate a bit to see the clouds move, at least from my experience), it reminds me that I'm but a small creature, only human. Whatever decisions I make everything else moves on. Should I stay still and do nothing? Or press on?

I choose to press on. Always.

This week's vintage shop updates are full of pretty florals and lots of pastels. I'm still working out what to do with the domain name adorevintage.com... unfortunately it's a rather sticky situation involving a very evil man. I'm not stressing about it, life moves on, shit happens, you deal with it.

So on a more positive and brighter note... all of these lovely vintage clothes and accessories will be available this evening!

Ever since I started working in the fashion industry my taste in clothes have gotten a lot more simple. I think it stems from the fact that I really don't have time to put together outfits anymore so I usually throw on a pair of trousers and a blouse and my trusty Loeffler Randall pumps and I'm out the door.

A Vintage Outfit Post: A Shot of Color

I want things in my life to be more simple. Beautiful, yes, always. But simple. I definitely don't shop as much as I used to, I've never been a big shopper which contradicts a lot of people's initial opinion of me. I work in fashion AND I operate a vintage shop...therefore I should love shopping. But I really don't. Which leads me to talk about these trousers I just picked up from H&M. They fit so well I bought one in just about every color they offered. It was a quick decision. Fits well, love them, ok, let's go! I usually stick to the classics...khaki, black, grey...but this time I bought the bright orange pink trousers just to be spontaneous. So, maybe I shouldn't be so afraid of color anymore...paired with grey of course. Hey now, one has got to stick to one's true self.

Oh be still my heart... this vintage bohemian wedding just really touches me! It is so absolutely beautiful and all of the wedding dresses appear to be vintage. I can definitely recognize some Edwardian gowns, 1930s sheer dresses, and of course the long hippie maxi wedding dresses from the 1970s.

The head dresses are just GORGEOUS and a few of them look to be antique and vintage pieces. You can purchase these gorgeous accessories at Little Doe.

Ahh, isn't this bohemian inspired wedding just absolutely lovely? I don't know if I'm feeling what the guy is wearing to be honest...and in one of the photos he is most definitely wearing a woman's Edwardian blouse... but nevertheless, it's gorgeous and inspiring! I love the fashion decoupaged feel these photographs evoke by Japanese photograher, Miyuki Yamanaka. The use of textures from the garments themselves in the photographs add this layered effect that I'm kinda digging.

her own words: "I am a Japanese photographer currently based in London. Inspiration comes from the mundane scenes, which often relates to nostalgia and obsolescence. This has also led me to explore the themes; existence, death, time, constancy and family." - from M-Y-Pics.com

So last weekend was pretty marvelous and this weekend just topped it. May I just say I am so happy right now?

I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!
(there, I said it!)

It's just a nice feeling to know that life moves on, we continue to move forward, onward... I marvel that with each passing day I am still learning so many things, still growing and changing as a person. I'm not ashamed to admit I read my fair share of self help books and lately I've opened up a lot more to my friends about things I am dealing with. It's hard for me to put myself in a place of being vulnerable or where people are aware I'm weak and breaking. Anyhow, without getting too far into personal details... let's move on to the upcoming vintage shop updates, shall we?

Ooo la la, what is it about the French? That certain je ne sais quoi even down to the very tippy tips of their hair. I am tempted to do something with my lackluster hair. I don't hate my hair by any means, it's just...it's only justthere. Here are some vintage hairstyle inspirations from a few 1960s French babes including Chantal Goya, Francoise Hardy, and of course the bombshell Brigitte Bardot.

There's definitely a theme here...bangs! Wispy, soft, and not too blunt. Hmm...should I get bangs?

A couple of weekends ago I visited LACMA's "California Modern" exhibit which features Mid Century fashion, interior design, graphics, art, and architecture. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for mid century modern interiors and art and try to incorporate it into the graphics I design and even my apartment.

I came across these vintage mid century modern posters and prints and absolutely had to share. The colors and shapes are so inspiring!
