I found this copy of a vintage Better Homes & Gardens Decorating book at an estate sale once upon a time and I was so thrilled to have found it!

The book is stocked full of practical decorating know hows and it is so well organized and put together. I mostly just love flipping through for all the photos though. So much mid century modern furniture to drool over! There's some serious ugly too... but let's just focus on the loveliness...

I've almost been in my apartment for a year now and I am ITCHING absolutely itching to redecorate. I actually want to move again but I think it's just because I'm bored of my vintage apartment.

I am very inspired by these clean and grey Mid Century modern inspired spaces. I do need to add warmth and loveliness to my apartment which I am hoping to do by getting navajo rugs and kilim pillows. I must always have flowers though, but we'll see... I'm having fun dreaming about this new space of mine.

A couple of weekends ago I visited LACMA's "California Modern" exhibit which features Mid Century fashion, interior design, graphics, art, and architecture. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for mid century modern interiors and art and try to incorporate it into the graphics I design and even my apartment.

I came across these vintage mid century modern posters and prints and absolutely had to share. The colors and shapes are so inspiring!

It's always around Spring time where I get the itch to change things around. While I quite like my vintage apartment, I just need something to change. But it's difficult to change a lot when you live in less than 500 square feet and every corner is already filled up with something.

I spotted this apartment over at Emma's Design Blog and was smitten! I love clean white spaces! I could never do an entire apartment like this personally as I really have to have some old bones somewhere and I can never get away from dried flowers (or flowers in general) and French Shabby Chic. But this apartment has definitely inspired me for my future Spring Cleaning of the apartment.

I don't exactly have gobs of cash to refurnish my entire apartment. However, I am thinking of changing up the color scheme a bit. Maybe switch out some accessories, change the bedding... oh no, I can't do that actually. Any time I try to branch out from white linens I quickly regret it and just go back to white and cream.

But perhaps there is nothing wrong with sticking to what you like... I just need to do some editing. Maybe purchase a couple new pieces. I definitely want a new dining table, different chairs perhaps. And get rid of my ridiculous zebra rug. You know, I really despise the rug, but when you live in such a small space, a rug really helps define areas in a studio so until I find a better replacement, it has to stay.

Los Angeles is a treasure trove of interior design shops...if you're willing to shell out the big bucks. While it is very possible to outfit your home in mid-century wonderfulness on a dime, it takes A LOT of searching, hunting, and sweat to get there.

Cain Modern is an antique/mid-century modern furniture shop in West Hollywood where I would shop for home interiors if I had a celebrity salary. But for now, I just admire their wares and go hunting on Craigslist.

I love the clean lines of Mid-Century furniture and the dark wood grains. I think when it comes to interior design I'm caught between the 1950s modern house and the 19th Century French countryside château where everything is in varying shades of cream, eggshell, and antique white. I couldn't picture our house being decked out in so much mid-century furniture and decor as the one pictured here, but there are many enviable elements. The painted portraits (I love those but can never bring myself to buy one...), that beautiful credrenza, and the yellow Herman Miller-esque rocking chair.

I simply adore vintage illustrations depicting love and happy couples (in advertisements mostly). They are a little cheesy, but so very romantic. Don't deny it, you know you've fantasized about being swept off your feet (wearing a gorgeous vintage dress, of course!) and being kissed as if you were in a TCM movie.

A snippet from the poem "Camomile Tea"
"We might be fifty, we might be five,
So snug, so compact, so wise are we!
Under the kitchen-table leg
My knee is pressing against his knee."

I love Mid-Century modern furniture because the lines are clean and simple. Nothing is ever too bulky or too fussy. I also love all the wood grain colors.

I'm currently in love with the { Eames DSW } chair with wooden legs (pictured in 3 + 5). I need end chairs for our dining room and I feel these would be a great fit. At first I was seriously considering the Louis Ghost chairs, but can you imagine how annoying it would get to see fingerprints and marks on all that clear acrylic? And I'm slightly OCD... it would not bode well.
