I first happened upon a photo of the artist Georgia O'Keeffe's home on Pinterest and immediately had to search for more photos! There is so much to love about Georgia O'Keeffe's desert home in New Mexico. The artist kept her home and studio very bare and minimal. I love how clean and sparse everything is and yet still so warm and so inviting. I'm very partial to desert landscapes and elements of the desert, so her home speaks to one of my interior design sentiments. (Because as you know, there are multiples)

First and foremost, confession...I literally just put on my "inspiration tunes" playlist so I could write this blog post.

Ok, now that we're over that...

Lately I've been in a bit of a slump. Well, it's weird... I am having such a heightened level of inspiration lately, so much in fact that I can't focus on anything. I want to do this, and that, and then THIS...

It's been centered mostly around my new apartment. I've seriously moved THREE times this year. Only crazy people do that. All this moving though has had me feeling very unsettled lately. I just want to be settled already. I want to come home and not have a box that I have to unpack from my first move. I want the curtains up. I want a fruit bowl that's actually used. And don't even get me started on the artwork I have leaning against the wall just waiting to be hung up. (They're currently gathering a layer of dust...and not all too happy about it.)


I love how "settled in" this living room feels. Maybe it's because the books aren't perfectly staged. And the pillows are all smushed and not in that "karate chop" way which is actually a pet peeve of mine. I also really dig this grey couch. The color mostly. I'm shopping for a grey couch right now to replace my French settee which is featured here.


More than anything else, this living room inspired me the most. I have my own things I'd change, but the combination of minimal, streamlined mid-century inspired furniture, and mix of textiles makes me wish this were my living room. Or rather my "right now" living room, as I know in about 3 months time, I'll tire of my current settings and want to change everything again.


I've also been really into baskets lately! (Ahh I'm turning into my Mom!) Also succulents. Wait, I've always been into those. I'm a little confused as to why there's a butter knife on that succulent, but hey...not judging.


I normally wouldn't be into this room. It's a little too dark for my personal taste, but something about all the details resonated with my current state of interior design inspiration. For some reason this bedroom inspired me to buy a large Kevin Russ print for my bedroom.

What sort of rooms have been inspiring you lately?

Ooo...and all these images (plus literally hundreds of others) are from my Interior Design boards on Pinterest! I have a board for bedrooms, kitchens, dining rooms, and outdoor spaces!

When decorating one of my favorite ways to keep things interesting is height. For instance Adding in a tall book shelf, hanging art higher than at the average eye line, or full length drapery panels. Along with these tricks I have recently fallen in love with hanging plants. This is such a great way to bring the outdoors in (another rad design element) as well as spice up a room with different textures. I also love this for small spaces, because when you start using the ceiling and walls to decorate you clear up more floor space for other things. It's that time of year I start to get all antsy about decorating and re-doing my apartment. Ok, honestly, this happens every change of seasons, but who cares. I love looking at inspiring places and then curating a home that makes me inspired to live and work in. As always I love natural light, but lately I've really been feeling the Western vibe mixed in with lots of lace, flowers, and industrial.

Well, I've officially caught the Spring Cleaning bug and started the heavy hauling around my apartment to get things "just like so" Lately my influences have been industrial mixed with French flea market mixed with the Southwest. Here are some home inspirations I am digging right now.



What are you tackling for Spring Cleaning?

Let me just preface that many of my posts this month well be interior design and retail design-centric. I sit here typing this in my kitchen (I'm not sure if you knew my "office" in my apartment is literally next to my refridgerator...but now you know!) and feeling quite sad about the move.

So to console myself I've been admiring photos of other people's lofts and daydreaming of how my own loft apartment will look.

I can't stand sterile looking lofts though. You know the type. Very minimalistic, very cold, hardly anything in it at all! I don't get the appeal. I also don't understand where all their crap must be hiding! Have they got a separate loft to house all their things? To me a home is cozy and lived in with lots of plants around (even if they're all half dead which is the case of my apartment), knit throws, pretty found little objects, and a faint scent of jasmine and vanilla in the air. I sound like I'm describing a grandmother's home, but I like all these cozy things to be in one of those stark white boxes. Aka "The Loft".


So my new loft doesn't have an amazing industrial kitchen (much to my sadness) and has *GASP* brown cupboards. *make puking sounds* I really hate these cupboards. BUT on a happier note my new place has a dishwasher!!! HOLY SCHNIKIES! The convenience if it all!
