I absolutely love flipping through old magazines. I think it's one of the reasons I never throw away my old magazines and instead keep stacks of them in forgotten corners of my closet. All the images below are from Ciao Vogue and are edited scans from original vintage vogue magazines from 1973.

If you are a vintage seller and/or collector one of the best sources for dating vintage is to do plenty of research by reading magazines! Seeing the editorials and advertisements really helps to pinpoint specific styles of clothes.

I never really realized how much I loved the styles of the early 1970s until I viewed all these images. Long drapey dresses, 1930s silhouette inspirations, 1920s cloche hats, swingy skirts, and belted cardigans and sweaters. I'm totally loving it!

If I wasn't a peddler of vintage wares, I'd probably try my hand at interior designing. I really love it and considered following my mother's footsteps as an interior decorator (she was both an amazing dressmaker and an interior designer!) but unfortunately I opted to study business in college which eventually I dropped out of because crunching numbers really wasn't my sort of thing. (I moved to Budapest instead and got engaged! HAHA!)

I think our living room embodies everything Adorevintage is and even my own personal style. Vintage Meets Modern. I often get asked about how I photograph the vintage clothing and accessories in the shop...what lights and equipment I use...well, here's the answer! My apartment is filled with natural light!

Here is a preview of the vintage wedding dresses that will be available in the shop soon. They are perfect dress choices for casual or whimsical weddings. The long dresses I can imagine being photographed at a flowery field for a bohemian wedding and the full strapless lace dress would be so adorable at a rustic wedding paired with a floral wreath or small veil.

I first fell in love with Betty Grable and her most charming smile in the 1953 movie "How to Marry A Millionare" with Marilyn Monroe and Lauren Bacall. Then I saw "Pin Up Girl" and "Moon Over Miami" and thought she was just so cute. What's is your favorite Betty Grable movie?

Betty Grable had the most famous legs in Hollywood and were insured for $1,000,000 by Llyods of London. It's interesting that in our times her legs would be considered on the curvy side. In my opinion she still has amazing legs!

I fell in love with a few of the dress at Sunday Brunch Dress and was even more smitten after reading their 'about' page. I completely 100% agree... I really love the designers they carry (Yoana Baraschi, Kloset, and Samantha Pleet to name a few), the selection isn't very big, but lots of lovely vintage inspired dresses.

"Every woman writes her own story. So shouldn’t our own stories be the ones we love best? - That’s why we get excited opening up those old books, because now that old, loved story is about to become special to us, special in a slightly different, slightly new, way. - A dress is about savoring life, *our* lives. When we read a good story, we close our eyes and see the characters. The right dress can make us feel that way."
Put a modern spin on a vintage 1950s summer dress by pairing it with chunky neutral platforms like these from Jeffrey Campbell. Keep your jewelry modern with a simple graphic pendant such as this pendant from House of Harlow.

How to wear vintage 1950s dress

I love wearing sun dresses with cardigans and because this vintage 1950s dress comes with a matching belt, I'd use the belt to cinch in the cardigan. You can also use a dark brown woven belt to help tie together the natural look of the platforms.

It's so unassuming, I think that's why I like the color grey. It's chic, simple, and a little bit mysterious.

It's one of those pieces of furniture that I dream about having, but realistically, probably won't have. But, who knows, I've been able to talk myself into getting things that aren't really sensible or practical but are just too pretty not to have. A French settee is one of those things.

It's frou frou furniture and sometimes I really love frou frou things. But the French settee isn't exactly a couch you can plop into to, punch the cushions for ideal head resting, and laze around for hours on (but maybe the latter is a good thing, no couch potato syndrome!)
